Pacific City Sunshine

Sun sinking slowly over the Pacific City sea-scape

The Jensen Clan's annual Pacific City Invasion!
The annual Memorial Day family get-together on the coast was a memorable one. We had a spectacular sunny Saturday on the beach complete with a low tide for excellent tide-pooling!

Dad introduces Sam to the diversity of intertidal alga and associated herbivores. Despite the abundance of curious recreational naturalists and their accompanying young-of-year (kids), the habitat was in good shape and all seemed respectful of these creatures.

Kona taking young Sam for a little stroll around the cape. We were just thankful that she didn't decide to take him for a swim around the rock!

Tulip Fest 2008-Extended!

We enjoyed a most beautiful spring day in the Skagit Tulip Fields. For the past three years living in Mt Vernon we have walked the muddy flower gardens in the rain. Not this year! The crazy weather led to a delay in the Spring '08 bloom thus extending the season by a few weeks.

Sam goes "Into the Wild" world of dazzling acres of tulips. His favorite species was the "pink ones" but really had a great interest in driving this bus. We told him he was not allowed as the drivers seat was occupied by a fiery 4 year old Chinese-Canadian and we all know what their tempers are like!

Say cheese! Very tricky coordinating smiles with a baby who doesn't quite understand me yet and the 2.5 year old whom I am not quite understanding anymore!

Home sweet home.
In this picture you can see Little Mountain and the Cultus Mountains.

Spring also calls for the annual hanging of the hammock!

Portland Easter Weekend

Happy Easter! We had a great whirlwind tour through Portland. It was a race to see as many people and spend as much quality time as humanly possible. Back before having children Mandy and I could dash off to Portland on a moments notice and arrive four hours later at Mom's door step just in time for a quick jog around the pond and a steamy bowl of udon. Now our drive is something of a National Lampoon vacation, and this one included a lovely crawl through the infamous Everett-Tacoma I-5 nightmare (at peek rush hour!) After departing Mt. V at 4:30pm we pulled into Grammy D's driveway a little after 10:00pm Friday night. Much too late for that steamy bowl of udon and the thought of a glorious jog around the pond didn't even occur to me.

On Saturday morning after a blissful 5 hours of sleep (no joke!) Mom, Sam, and I left Benny in Grammy D's care for a quick walk to the park. That afternoon we visited Grandpa Jensen and "Christopher" Robin's place for a yummy chicken fry. Also in attendance, Great Grandpa Jensen, Jessie, Aunt Nell, cousin Em and Kevin. Great time had by all.

Sam on an Easter Egg Safari at Grammy D's. T'was quite windy and wet but no match for a 4th generation Jensen of the PacNW.

Easter Brunch was tasty and we were happy to see GG, Sally, Janie, and Great Uncle Bob. This was the first time Benny had met these family members and it looks like Bob's first time holding a baby, pretty good job!

Hangin' with the Runde's

We had a great weekend of playing house with our Friends the Runde's. Jackson and Sam had a total blast playing car and driver with the new Lexus! Took the whole family to the park on a typically cold and wet January day.
